By Sabrina Beguiristain, Senior It was August 28th, a Monday that was slowly stumbling on by the school of iPrep. Although heavy yawns and tiresome eyes almost convinced me to forget the major event in my day, I was quickly drawn back by a melody.
However, this began exactly 7 months ago on February when 8 I convinced my mom to purchase concert tickets to go see Coldplay. Now you must understand that deciding to go to a Coldplay concert wasn’t a difficult battle to beat. My family adores Coldplay so much that my mom orders me to play Yellow every morning on our way to school. So, you could only imagine the intense and at times overwhelming exhilaration my mom has passed to me. Thus, several months dashed past as we were patiently awaiting the arrival of THAT Monday. With the day finally here, my mind barely had capacity for other external curriculums. The trip to the stadium was long and tedious, but the only way to break out of the restful funk was to jam to our favorite Coldplay songs. As we approached the stadium our bodies were animated with each beating song. I observed every detail like the people skipping to the sunset as it slowly reached its end. I made sure every detail was saved eternally in my memory. I attentively watched people smiling in every direction, while we awaited to be amazed. Finally, with a colorful bang, the band jumped to the stage full of life. The catchy rhythms of each song swayed in and out between the crowds of people. Everyone was jumping, stomping, and waving their bodies to each song. As everyone was dancing, the stadium shined with a spectrum of colors lighting up the clear night sky. In between songs, the frontman, Chris Martin, would rejoice the crowd with humorous comments and would concisely speak about the importance of love and expression. When the end was occurring, we took a long glance of admiration at the band to remember the exhilarating time we just experienced. Immediately after, I was rushed with a sense of gratitude for the band because of their constant reminder that love and togetherness is as important as food and water. To conclude this segment, Coldplay might not appeal to everyone, but their songs have and still are inspiring people for the better.
