Who is iPrep?

In 8th grade, I scoured high school review websites, mommy blogs, and endless Google pages in the hopes of discovering an education that would fit me. Did I want a locker? See fights? Get lost in a crowd? Or was I looking to know everyone? Traverse a small campus? Less chaos? I was unsure of the answer to all of these questions until I clicked on a link to a school with an odd name.
iPreparatory Academy seemed, at first, a place of wonder: couches lined its colorful hallways, laptops rested in the hands of chatting students, and classes roared with discussion. In my mind, each photo and every student exuded independence. I inspected each pixel of the school’s website to understand further. Each time I read over it, I grew exponentially more interested.
Stepping onto the frigid linoleum for the first time felt like spring’s grass. I was entranced by the bright walls and large i– statements; I was spellbound by the rigor of the classes and expertise teaching styles; I was enamored by the liberty I was given by the teachers and staff. Nearly every part of this school seemed to match me.
Now, as a junior, I have experienced more than two years of laptop turn-ins, SAT shutdown days, and crazed Sultz ramblings. I have come to know this institution’s every crevice, and yet for any fault I find, there are myriad pros to counter:

Autonomy is key, as students are encouraged to work independently or in groups instead of the "sage on the stage."
The commuter lifestyle helps students understand city life.
The unconventional spirit of education, emphasizing placed upon a work-life balance.
The mandatory internship in junior and senior year prepares children for a life beyond education.
Students and teachers work one-on-one as a result of smaller class sizes.
In its education, social encouragement, and forward view on individualism, I have found myself growing into a personality wholly aligned with my ideals and aspirations. With each turn of the calendar, it has become more apparent how much of a "home" this school has become to me.
In every home, each member of the family has their function. The iPrep high school attendee is one of these members, and their identity is nurtured differently from that of any other "traditional" school. From what I have experienced, iPrep teachers, environment, staff, and pedagogy has fostered me to become more perseverant and free.
