By N'agelie Lazo, Senior The moment has arrived...dun...dun...dunnn...GRAD BASH at Universal Studios! Every year Grad Bash or Grad Night is held at the Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure theme parks in honor to celebrate graduating seniors together. This year’s 2017-2018 Grad Bash Night is on Friday, April 13th. Tickets are NOW on sale! Make sure to purchase your tickets seniors! For underclassmen who have no idea what this, here’s the history of Grad Bash: The Grad Bash/Night event originally derived from the concerns of parents with children who were partying for their last high school days, and subsequently, they were abusing alcohol and drugs. The first ever Grad Bash is accredited to Orange County, California and has now become a nation-wide event hosted in almost every state. The tradition caught on, and it continues to be a highlight for many students and parents during the senior year. It’s a fun night that brings the school's graduating seniors together for a safe party filled with games and activities. Some schools later began implementing Grad Bash celebrations into elementary and middle schools. I remember both my 5th and 8th grade Grad Night like it was yesterday! The idea of having a whole park to yourself, alongside your closest classmates, and not having to deal with excessively long lines with crying children is great. This is a very popular graduation celebration, and the participation can run as high as 98% at some schools. It is a chance for teens to have one last night with their childhood friends before everyone moves off to college. Sadly, last year’s graduating class of iPrep did not have a Grad Bash due to a low interest from the students. Given that it’s an expensive and time-consuming event, it is also a night that will be unforgettable and worth attending. The night is more than just full access to all the amazing rides, it’s a full package deal of food, games, and even a free concert performance! A few honorable mentions were performers such as Jason Derulo, Jessie J, and this year will be Sean Paul. If I haven’t sold you yet on the best night ever, here are some pictures from my 8th grade Grad Bash that will hopefully convince you! With that being said, thank you for reading and I’ll be back next month with a new article like the Terminator ride that is disconnected from Universal Studios! Don’t worry Arnold Schwarzenegger will make his come back!

N'agelie LazoA few things you may want to know about me are: I enjoy short walks to the fridge, and I’m probably the only person you’ll know that has every line of High School Musical memorized. Keep an eye out every month for my senior advice column that will provide helpful information to those struggling seniors out there! See you soon, or shall I say, “Toodles!” - Sharpay Evans |
