By N'agelie Lazo, Senior I can’t believe that I’m officially writing my final Senior Column for The Phoenix Flyer. This year has been one to remember, and we are proud to have reached the end! Although I will not be able to cover graduation (the publication of this article predates our graduation on June 6), my final piece will focus on Silver Knight and Prom. A big congratulations to all of our Silver Knight Nominees, including myself. The ceremony took place on Thursday, May 17th at the James L. Knight Center. All nominees were lined up outside the auditorium by category. As we entered the auditorium to take our seats, we were greeted by our certification of nomination, along with the program and a gift bag. It was a overall nerve wracking experience waiting for each category to be called for both honorable mentions and the Silver Knight awards. It was a beautiful experience, and all the nominees were grateful and in awe the entire night. Honorably, in the category of Science, our Daniel Greene was awarded an honorable mention. In the category of Mathematics, our Jahone Green was awarded an honorable mention. Also, we recognize Natalie Balladares, N’agelie Lazo, Laura Mejia, and Melanie Rodriguez for making iPrep and administration proud of their nominations. To all underclassmen and future Silver Knight nominees, reach out in your community and make an impact! Another awesome final senior event, on May 18, 2018 was PROM! “A Tropical Night” was a success! Congratulations to our Prom King, Jahone Green, and Prom Queen, Telkevia Mackey. Everyone came dressed to impress! All the students enjoyed their night on the dance floor, as it was our final showdown on the dance floor and our last hoorah. Here’s to many more dance filled nights in college! A huge thank you to our sponsor, Ms. Keller, and our Editor in Chief, Melanie Rodriguez, for letting me contribute to the Phoenix Flyer every month. Since publication of the May edition is in May, I won't be able to cover our huge graduation celebration on June 6, 2018, but just know that it will be spectacular at the Adrienne Arsht Center, as I’ll be wearing my best Sharpay Evan style dress and shoes! Toodles ;) N’agelie out.

N'agelie LazoA few things you may want to know about me are: I enjoy short walks to the fridge, and I’m probably the only person you’ll know that has every line of High School Musical memorized. Keep an eye out every month for my senior advice column that will provide helpful information to those struggling seniors out there! See you soon, or shall I say, “Toodles!” - Sharpay Evans |
