As a student of iPrep you learn or enhance many skills that help you tackle life, college, and future jobs, one of them is cooperation. The #ValuesMatter #Cooperation is when one works with a team to reach an ultimate goal. Teamwork can be found in almost every class and club at iPrep giving students the edge to improve their cooperation skills.
All clubs have an Executive Board that you can join or become an engaged member by volunteering or joining projects where members work together to create a fun event.
For example, the Student Government Association (SGA) works together with their Board to create events, like the Homecoming Dance, Hoop it Up, and United Way Campaign.
Here are some highlights of iPrep’s events from February and March 2022 that showcase our students' #Cooperation to make iPrep a big community.

GSA Weddings (February)
On Valentine’s day, February 14th, iPrep’s Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) held a fundraiser and fun event “Weddings.” To promote the idea that “Love is Love” and Kindness is Kindness, friends and couples at the school married each other. The event, held at the high top area under a balloon arch, was performed by GSA officers where they married couples, triples, and even groups. After purchasing party rings and flowers, the students took their vows and posed for pictures! The weddings are a classic event at iPrep, and were a big success this year. As a member of GSA and one of the volunteers helping with the event, one of the factors that led to the triumph was the amazing #Cooperation between the GSA Executive Board. Everyone was delegated a task– VP Samantha Peltrau made the schedule and kept everyone on task (with our Sponsor), I helped Samantha make sure that people arrived on time for their wedding, Secretary Christina Ganem gave the rings and flowers, Historian Brooke Bellinson took pictures, and Secretary Amalie Ise officiated most of the weddings (in place of our President who was in Tallahassee with an advocate group speaking against the FL Senate about HR 1557). A special thanks to Ms. Arnold, former iPrep Activities Director, who volunteered her time to make us that iconic balloon archway. #Cooperation ensured that we worked efficiently together. As well, if any of the members needed help they did not hesitate to ask each other for it. Without the great teamwork done by the GSA’s Board, the weddings wouldn’t have been as amazing as they were. |
Senior Luncheon (February)
On February 25th, the Seniors held a Black History Month Luncheon for the juniors and seniors. The luncheon celebrates Black History Month as a pot-luck including dishes and drinks from African-American culture and the Caribbean; however, this luncheon includes other food from around the world as students from all backgrounds contributed to the event.
There was a wide array of foods, drinks, and desserts all brought in by students and teachers; some students even sacrificed their lunch period to set up colorful decorations for the affair.
Some mini-events at the luncheon were Khailah White’s Black History Trivia Kahoot game and a Mac-n-cheese Contest between Samantha Peltrau, Nikayla Pierre, and Judy Ladacouer (they were all too good for just 1 winner). The luncheon united our school’s upperclassmen in a fun event to never forget.

Seniors read to the Pre-K and K students (February)
On February 28th, Ms. Keller’s AP Literature Class and a few NEHS members made their way down to the Elementary School for a Black History Month Activity: reading children’s books to Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
Each book, donated by iPrep’s PTSA, was about a Black icon and/or written by a Black author; the topics included everything from basketball to inclusion and friendship. The adorable audience showed incredible kindness and attentiveness. Some students received a “Goodbye Song” or received hugs from them. The kindergarteners really enjoyed the readings and the seniors donated the books to the classroom libraries.

PI Day (March)
One of the most well known mathematical celebration days is Pi day which occurs on March 14 (3/14). On that Monday, Mu Alpha Theta hosted special events after lunch to celebrate the day. The three main events were the digits of Pi Memorization Contest, Perfect Circle Contest, and the Pieing a Teacher. The students pay to enter the contests and would get a pie for winning. For the digits of Pi Memorization Contest, participants had to remember as many digits of Pi as they could and write them down correctly within a certain time period. The Perfect Circle contest is exactly that, the students had to draw the best circle they can. |
Finally, the classic and most exciting event of the day is the Pieing of the Teachers. Students buy a ticket to enter a raffle, their ticket is put in a cup, and the teachers draw one ticket. If their ticket was chosen, they throw a pie at the teacher (see picture of Mr. Sultz pied by Ceci Ise).
After not having the event the last two years because of the pandemic, it was great fun and allowed the students to participate in an event that creates school spirit for the middle and high schools.
